Star Cinema’s The Hows of Us introduces a more matured Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, collectively known as Kathniel, and they do not disappoint.

Under the direction of Cathy Garcia-Molina, Kathryn and Daniel essay the roles of George and Primo, respectively. George and Primo are in a long-term relationship planning for their bright future together when they experience their real test.

As they choose between love and career, will their bond be strong enough to survive or will they lose “us”? Will the sorry this time be different from all the other sorrys before?

Kathryn is at her best in The Hows of Us. Gone are the bothersome voice and the self-conscious acting. Kathryn as George is the epitome of grace, strength, and undeniable beauty. She is believable as a woman who loved, got hurt, but never gave up on herself and on love. She nails every dramatic scene she has, especially the one where she stands in the rain and delivers her powerful lines, “pagod na ‘ko…”. And she looks radiant with those red lips.

Daniel is her usual great self – natural acting in both light and heavy scenes. His eyes do the talking for him.

The Hows of Us is the blossoming of Kathniel, especially Kathryn. They do mature roles in a wholesome and alluring way, without showing too much skin (I know Kathryn wears shorts in this film, but she looks virtuous while doing it) or trying to do too much as to alienate their fans. Yet, do not make any mistake about it, the themes they tackle in The Hows of Us are grownup problems. The emotions seem real and the love between them is definitely electrifying. Nahulog sila, tinalon na nila, and what an amazing jump it is from their previous films.

The official soundtrack of this film gives me the feels. It is love. 🙂
