My Perfect You is Star Cinema’s latest romantic comedy offering. My Perfect You is directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina.
My Perfect You stars Gerald Anderson as Burn Toledo, a burnt out graphic artist whose life takes a nosedive on Valentine’s Day after his failed proposal to his (now ex-) girlfriend. Burn decides to escape the judgmental society and drives to the middle of nowhere. An accident leads him to meet Abi who is gamely portrayed by 2015 Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach. Abi is the owner/manager/nurse/receptionist/tour guide/cook/laudrywoman (yes, those are multiple slashes) of a resort called Happy Sunshine Camp.
Burn and Abi cannot be more polar opposites in terms of chirpiness, and Burn dislikes Abi’s too-happy persona at first sight. However, circumstances force them to remain in a secluded yet paradisiacal location and deal with their personal hang-ups.
Will they discover that they are perfect for each other or will their tropical paradise serve as a gilded cage?
I will not spoil My Perfect You for anyone, but I will say that there is more to this film than meets the eye. The unexpected turn of events is a welcome surprise, and it gives the movie a certain degree of depth that sets it apart from the usual Filipino romcom films. Permit me to say that whatever issue My Perfect You tackles, the people behind the camera handle it better than how Last Night dealt with depression and suicide.

I am sorry to hear that your family is going through tough times. I hope that your situation will improve in the near future. However, the hugot lines I write are the ones I catch from watching the films once. If there are lines that are too long, I usually cannot write them down. I remember that in the latter part of the movie, there was an exchange among the characters of Gerald, Dimples, and Tonton, which I was not able to jot down in full.
