The Bayleaf Intramuros (Manila)

The Bayleaf Intramuros is nestled within the historic walled portion of Manila. This boutique hotel has 57 guestrooms that marry style and convenience to maximize its guests’ quantity and quality of relaxation. Each room has five-star bedding (it was thick and comfortable enough for me), a 32-inch LCD TV set (which I did not deign to turn on), coffee and tea maker (or water heater), decent Wi-Fi internet with sometimes fluctuating signal, safety deposit box, and hair dryer.

I occupied one of the deluxe rooms with the view of the wall, Intramuros Golf Course, and Manila City Hall. It looked and smelled clean, with every things in its place. All the lights worked and there were a fair number of outlets for the gadgets that I bought with me. I was a little disappointed that there was no flat iron and I had to request for slippers and toilet tissue. However, the persons who gave me the slippers and toilet tissue were polite, so it was a plus point.

When I woke up in the morning, there was a newspaper waiting for me when I opened the door. If this was in a different era, I would have been overjoyed to find real newspaper for free. Now read the news on my phone, so discovering the newspaper made me nostalgic rather than happy.

Guests of The Bayleaf Intramuros can sample a variety of dishes from any of the four restaurants in the hotel: 9 Spoons, a modern, casual dining place popular for its Bayleaf Bagnet, Skydeck has a wide array of bar chows and beverages perfect for a relaxing night while gazing at an unimpeded 360-degree vista of the city of Manila, Raffaeke Woodfired Pizza has what else but pizzas, and Cioccolata Churros Café for those mouth-watering sweet temptations.
