The Dekalogo ng Katipunan (Duties of the Sons of the People) was penned by Andres Bonifacio. It was supposed to be the official teachings of Kataas-taasan, Kagalanggalangang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan (KKK), also known as Katipunan, a movement that sought Philippine independence from Spain. However, Bonifacio thought that his work was inferior than Emilio Jacinto’s Kartilya primer. Bonifacio chose to adopt Jacinto’s work instead of his own.

I. Sumampalataya sa Maykapal nang taimtim sa puso.

Love God with all thy heart.

 

II. Gunam-gunamin sa sarili tuwina, na ang matapat na pagsampalataya sa Kanya ay ang pag-ibig sa lupang tinubuan, sapagkat ito ang tunay na pag-ibig sa kapwa.

Always bear in mind that the true love of God is the love of thy country, and that this love is also the true love for thy fellow man.

 

III. Ikintal sa puso ang pag-asa na malabis na kapurihan at kapalaran na kung ikamamatay na tao’y magbubuhat sa pagliligtas sa pagkaalipin ng bayan.

Engrave in thy heart that the height of honor and happiness is to die in order to save one’s country.

 

IV. Sa kalamigan ng loob, katiyagaan, katiisan, at pag-asa sa anumang gagawin, nagbubuhat ang ikagaganap ng mabuting ninanais.

Calmness, constancy, reason, and faith in all work and actions crown every good desire with success.

 

V. Paingat-ingatang gaya ng puri ang mga bilin at balak ng KKK.

Maintain the mandates and aims of the KKK like thy honor.

 

VI. Sa isang nasa panganib sa pagtupad ng kanyang tungkulin, idadamay ng lahat, ang buhay at yaman upang maligtas yaon.

It is of the imcumbency of all to deliver and aid, at the risk of their own lives and property, any one who runs the great risk in the performance of his duties.

 

VII. Hangarin na ang kalagayan ng isa’t isa, maging huwaran ng kanyang kapwa sa mabuting pagpapasunod at pagtupad ng kanyang tungkulin.

Let the acts of each in good government and the performance of his duties be such as to serve as an example to his neighbor.

 

VIII. Bahaginan ng makakaya ang alinmang kapus-palad.

In so far as it is within thy power, share thy means with every indigent or unfortunate person.

 

IX. Ang kasipagan sa paghahanapbuhay ay siyang tunay na pag-ibig at pagmamahal sa sarili, sa asawa, sa anak, at kapatid o kababayan.

Diligence in the efforts to earn means of subsistence is the genuine love for oneself, one’s spouse, son, daughter, brother, sister, and compatriot.

 

X. Lubos na pagsasampalataya sa parusang inilaan sa baling suwail at magtaksil, gayon din sa pala na kakamtan ukol sa mabuting gawa. Sampalatayaan din naman na ang mga layuning tinutungo ng KKK ay kaloob ng Maykapal, samakatwid ang hangad ng bayan ay hangad din niya.

Believe in the punishment of every scoundrel and traitor and in the reward of every good act. Believe, likewise, that the aims of the KKK are God-given, and that desires for thy country are therefore also desires of God.
