Tapella Tapas Bar & Restaurant is a Spanish restaurant located in the far corner of the ground floor of Greenbelt 5. Its isolated spot makes it an ideal place to have a serene lunch with friends. Che, who celebrated her birthday half a month later, found this little gem, and what remains of Las Brujas just had that - a serene lunch to catch up with each other’s lives.
Lunch at Tapella Tapas Bar & Restaurant was wonderful from the time we entered the restaurant to the moment we exited its doors. Our server (whose name I did not get), who greeted us as soon as approached the door, was attentive, polite, and accommodating. He gave helpful suggestions and served the dishes with a smile.
I have nothing to complain about any of the dishes. Everything was seasoned well. The dishes came out on time and the presentation was on point.
Happy Birthday, Che! Maraming salamat! 🙂

Basket of bread we consumed while waiting for our food to arrive
Sangría. I am not sure if this was a big or small pitcher. Regardless of the size, I had two glasses. I have not consumed alcoholic drinks in more or less 15 years, but I made an exception for Che’s birthday. Sangría Big Pitcher, P700.00 (US $13.09). Sangría Small Pitcher, P500.00 (US $9.35)
Croquettas variadas (croquettes of ham, salami & mushroom), P195.00 (US $3.65). I had the ham croquette and its filling was good with diced ham in it.
Flauta de salmon Noruego (Smoked salmon and capers on ciabatta bread), P275.00 (US $5.14). This was my choice since it had salmon in it. I loved everything about it. The salmon was well-seasoned, although there could have been a teeny weeny bit more of it. The capers made a lot of difference because it elevated the whole thing to a new level.
Ensalada Tapella (mixed house salad drizzled with special dressing), P250.00 (US $4.68). As a carnivore, I am not a fan of mixed greens but this salad was just yum. The vegetables were fresh and crisp. The corn gave the dish a certain degree of sweetness and another layer of texture. Fortunately, the tuna was neither fishy nor compelling.
Arroz Sobrassada (Spanish chorizo paella served with a fine herbed sauce), P375.00 (US $7.01). Let me say that I did not get a lot of chorizo in this paella. However, I was contented with what I had. The lemon and the herb sauce combined with the paella was more than decent. The crisp potato thins were a good contrast texturally to the soft rice.
The herb sauce that came with the Arroz Sobrassada
Parillada de Carnes (a mixed of beef, lamb, pork, and sausage), P995.00 (US $18.61). This was good for two to three persons. I had a small portion of the meat but was too full to have a taste of the potato. The meat was generally tender and neither salty nor bland.
Lava cake. I love cakes so much so that I usually go out just to eat them, and this one was a run-of-the-mill lava cake.
