M Bakery - One Bonifacio High Street (Taguig City) Revisited

Some of my weekends involve meeting a group of ladies I met in Instituto Cervantes Manila. What started out as lunches that stretch for hours after our Saturday classes turned into weekend breakfast or lunch buffets or both.

Last Saturday was one of those breakfast buffets meet ups in High Street Café. It was followed by lunch in The Café Mediterranean. The day ended at 4pm, with a joyful stroll to M Bakery at One Bonifacio High Street Mall.

The cheery interiors of M Bakery made the already sunny day a little more radiant. The smell of the pastries and their nectarine frosting was enough to make me water at the mouth. With some difficulty, I chose six items from the shelves.

*Here are some of M Bakery’s drool-worthy desserts:

Banana cake with chocolate buttercream, P325.00 (US $6.28) per slice. I mentioned to Victoria that M Bakery cakes are heavy. Carrying one whole cake was an exercise of will. Carrying whole cakes was almost a punishment. Hahaha. I have carried four so far! She said that it is because M Bakery cakes are “real cakes”, not chiffon and do not have a lot of air. The banana cake was solid and it was not too sweet. All M Bakery cakes I have tasted have been moist and decadent.

M Bakery’s famous classic banana pudding: small, P145.00 (US $2.80) medium, P295.00 (US $5.12) and large, P375.00 (US $7.24). The banana pudding is M Bakery’s bestseller. It has layers of vanilla wafers, fresh bananas, and creamy vanilla pudding. This was a little dicey for me because it tasted like the ripe bananas we sliced, diced, and flattened, added powdered milk to, and combined thoroughly when I was a child. They tasted similar.
Vanilla cheese cake, P275.00 (US $5.31). It is like calamansi cheese cake without the zing. Eating it did not spark joy in me.
Peanut butter icebox, P275.00 (US $5.31). It is made with vanilla wafer crust, a layer of caramel and peanut butter whipped cream filling, and a chockful of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and crushed peanut toppings. When the Reese’s peanut butter cups winked at me, I was a goner. Yum!
Blueberry Jamboree bar, P395.00 (US $7.63). It is pecan shortbread crust layered with whipped cream and cream cheese filling and topped with a bunch of fresh blueberries. It was so deliciously decadent and I loved popping the blueberries into my mouth.

Classic tres leches cake, P255.00 (US $4.92). This traditional Mexican sponge cake is made with three different kinds of milk, topped with whipped cream, and a slice of fresh strawberry. I usually do not like anything with milk but this one was so soft and creamy. I almost drank it, not eat it.

Salted caramel tres leches cake, P255.00 (US $4.92). This is the same as tres leches cake, but with caramel syrup mixed in the three kinds of milk, and drizzled with caramel syrup on top. Also almost slurped it. Hehe.
