Over the weekend, the municipality of Carmona, Cavite celebrated the Ani ng Kinabukasan Grand Opening of Sorteo Festival. Sorteo Festival, from the Spanish word sorteo which means draw or raffle, is the triennial event when the residents of Carmona join the communal drawing of farmlands where they can till or rent out until the next edition of sorteo.
The 2019 Sorteo Festival grand opening parade had over 80 participants that include government, non-government, and private entities. The floats are adorned with rice threads, fruits, and vegetables, which symbolize the bountiful harvest of Carmona.
It was a colorful celebration which started at 4am. The floats were accompanied by participants who danced to the theme song. They were joined by street dance groups, mobile sound systems, and tricycles.
