Pasalubong – Iloilo, Part III (Biscocho Haus Edition)

It has been over a year since I featured pasalubong or goodies from Iloilo on this blog. During that period, I have continued to embrace many staple Ilonggo products but have discovered a couple of new brands.

I was in Iloilo for over a week, and as I am a creature of habit, I turned to my trusted name when it comes to pasalubong from Iloilo, Biscocho Haus. As is my wont, I went to SM City Iloilo and bought two boxes of edibles in the Biscocho Haus kiosk. It was a grave error on my part because the Biscocho Haus kiosk in Plazuela sold products that were 15% or more cheaper than the one in SM City Iloilo. Maybe it was the universe’s way of telling me to change my ways and do things differently. 🙂 Either way, here are some pasalubong from Biscocho Haus Iloilo*.

TR with pasalubong from Iloilo

Biscocho Haus Barquillos Long, P83.00 (US $1.56). Perfect with ice cream or on its own.

Biscocho Haus Barquillos Short, P70.00 (US $1.32)

Merengue, P67.00 (US $1.26). This remains one of my Ilonggo pasalubong favorites, but I have tremendously lessened my consumption of merengue.

Classic Butterscotch Small, P67.00 (US $1.26). The soft, almost gooey butterscotch of Biscocho Haus makes it my top choice for butterscotch.

Barquiron Long, P62.00 (US $1.17)

Garlic Bread, P67.00 (US $1.26). I buy garlic bread every time butter toast is not available. My relationship with garlic bread is love-hate-hate.

Biscocho Haus Banana Marbles, P48.00 (US $0.90), Rosquillos, P38.00 (US $0.72), and Pastillas, P34.00 (US $0.64). I have not tried banana marbles yet. Their rosquillos are decent and their pastillas is not memorable.

Biscochoron, P66.00 (US $1.24), Cinammon Otap, P41.00 (US $0.77), and Ugoytap, P52.00 (US $0.98). I have not tasted any of these.

Butong-butong, P41.00 (US $0.77) and Stick Bread, P23.00 (US $0.43). Both of these may possible cause toothache but they are worth the trouble.

Butterscotch Mango, P77.00 (US $1.45) and Butterscotch Prunes, P74.00 (US $1.39). The mango butterscotch is my favorite among all the butterscotch varieties. It has never failed to deliver that tender and yummy goodness. The prunes butterscotch is a little luxurious because of the huge slices of prunes, but sometimes, it tastes a little on the burnt side. Yes, the extra charge is worth every centavo.

Biscocho, P67.00 (US $1.26)

Pork Chicharon, P27.00 (US $0.51)

Mango Empanaditas, P57.00 (US $1.07) and Pili Tart, P52.00 (US $0.98)

Paborita, P31.00 (US $0.58), Peanut Turon, P33.00 (US $0.62), and Hopia, P27.00 (US $0.51)

Pacencia and Biscocho Principe, P40.00 (US $0.75)

Piaya and Piaya Ube, P48.00 (US $0.90)

Pinasugbo, P62.00 (US $1.17)

Pulceras, Kinihad, and Broas

Toasted Mamon Small, P40.00 (US $0.75) and Toasted Mamon Big, P67.00 (US $1.26)

Biscocho Haus Box of Assorted Bread, P150.00 (US $2.82)
