Our favorite robbers are back from hiding in their mostly tropical holes with Netflix’s La Casa de Papel (Money Heist) Part 3.
Due to lovesickness, Rio (Miguel Herrán) is caught by the authorities. Tokyo (Úrsula Corberó) almost finds herself in the same position but is able to escape and meet with the Professor (Álvaro Morte). With her profession of love for Rio, and the Professor’s appetite to do an homage to his fallen brother Berlin (Pedro Alonso), the gang gets back together to do another heist – this time the target is the fortress called the Bank of Spain.
Since the group lost three members during their Royal Mint heist, the Professor recruits three new members: Palermo (Rodrigo de la Serna) as the de facto leader of the operations, Bogotá (Hovik Keuchkerian) and Marseilles (Luka Peros). The police have new faces as well: Colonel Luis Tamayo (Fernando Cayo) replaces Colonel Prieto who got post traumatic stress disorder and erectile dysfunction due to the heist and Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri) is the new negotiator. The latter is the perfect embodiment of hell-hath-no-fury-like-a-woman-scorned with a sprinkle of fake saccharine demeanor. And I am not talking about the lollipops and doughnuts she eats. And she is pregnant.
Compared to this robbery, the Royal Mint is child’s play. This one is war.
Some of the notable scenes for me include: Nairobi (Alba Flores) proudly showing her work to the governor of the Bank of Spain and the latter says, “that’s the patrimony of the state”, Denver giving flirting tips to the IT guy, Neymar’s appearances in Episodes 6 and 8, and Sofía the ferret in Dalí costume.
My favorite part is all of Berlin’s appearances in flashback scenes. Gosh, I miss him. So much.

My dignity remains intact.” – Arturo Román (Enrique Arce)
“I was a hostage, but at some point we are all hostages to something. And when you accept that, that’s when you make up your mind. I make my own decisions! I face my problems! Everyone! I make my own decisions! I face my problems! I make my own decisions! I face my problems!” – Arturo

You owe me all this. That fucking backyard and even that fucking sea because you can’t bring my father back!” – Denver or Daniel or Ricardo Ramos (Jaime Lorente)

“What the Professor never imagined was that one day he would have to make that suicidal plan his own.” – Tokyo

“Professor, let’s cut the bullshit. How will we break into the Bank of Spain?” – Nairobi
“Nowadays, wars start with bombings. So did ours. That day, in Madrid, it rained over 140 million euros. That was our way of saying, ‘we’re back’.” – Tokyo
Quotes from Part 3 Episode 2: Aikido of La Casa de Papel (Money Heist):
“Remember plan Chernobyl? It was a desperate plan from our last heist. It involved raining money down on Madrid so we could make our escape when everything went wrong. It was intended to create chaos. And that exactly what we needed right now. Chaos.” – Tokyo
“Imagine, at a height of 300 meters, money raining down would be like manna from heaven. In total, we’ll release 140 million euros.” – The Professor
“They call and all of us Robin Hoods. It makes sense that some of the loot goes back the people.” – The Professor
“This message is for all of you who see this mask as a symbol of the resistance. We need you. The State has declared war against us. A filthy war. And we decided to stand up to them. The police have arrested one of us in a foreign country. Aníbal Cortés. It’s been two months since his arrest. And no formal charges have been made. They have not requested extradition. They haven’t provided a lawyer. He’s been held captive. Somewhere unknown. And most likely they are torturing him. So we are demanding the immediate end to this illegal detention. Right now. And that he is brought to justice in a way that respects all legal safeguards. The State began this war. And we’re not going to hide. We’re going to fight, blow by blow. And this time, the heist will be even bigger.” – The Professor
“If they have the fucking balls to announce they’re gonna rob again, they’re gonna find everything fortified! Fuck!” – Colonel Prieto (Juan Fernández)

“A third of your crew died and you didn’t do a fucking thing. Not a fucking thing!” – Martín
“I would have blown the whole building down! I’d blow the fucking building! I wouldn’t have let him die! But you did! Who the fuck do you think you’re talking to, you son of a bitch, some dumb ass from your gang. I know you well, Sergio. I know what kind of person you are. He was my friend. He was everything to me. He was my other half. Look me in the eyes, and tell me you never thought of it. That, if need be, he would let himself killed. With all your calculation, you son of a bitch, tell me you never considered your brother’s death. Hm?” – Martín
“I never considered my brother’s death. Not even once.” – The Professor
“I don’t know how to live without him.” – Martín
“I would like to say that it’s an homage to my brother. But the truth is, I would like to do it. And I wouldn’t do it without you.” – The Professor
“It’s about to begin.” – The Professor
“Inspector, what are you wearing? Let’s get started.” – The Professor
“When you have money to invest in R&D, you can do marvelous things. Three weeks before the heist, we’d already hacked the mobile phones of the CNI and the police through applications like WhatsApp. We could activate their microphones, cameras, and GPS. It took less than one hour to tap into the communication system of the entire defense staff.” – Tokyo
“I want your blood boiling and your mind frosty! Let’s go!” – Martín
“To the war!” – Martín
“I can’t sleep with Jesus Christ looking at me.” – Helsinki or Yashin Dasayev (Darko Perić)
“Listen to me. I am a mother, but I’m also your wife. And now, I’m a thief. And having a child doesn’t mean I have to renounce the other two. You’re a father, but you don’t even consider sitting it out. We may not be Bonnie and Clyde, but I learn fast and I’m not afraid. I prepared and passed for the entrance exam for the Royal Mint in six weeks!” – Stockholm or Mónica Gaztambide (Esther Acebo)
“Mónica Gaztambide doesn’t exist anymore, Denver. She stayed there at the Royal Mint shooting at the police to save your ass, Toyo’s, and Rio’s. So don’t tell me I’m sitting it out to warm up baby bottles, because I’m as much as a thief as you, motherfuckers. You sexist asshole!” – Stockholm
“Do you what a real patriarchy is? The meat between my legs. What the fuck is going on here? It’s 3am!” – Martín
“To your beds.” – The Professor
“I am Tokyo, I’m one of you. We are Dalí.” – Tokyo
“This mask has become a symbol throughout the world. Of resistance. Of indination or skepticism. Whatever. What is important is, it’s inspired a lot of people.” – The Professor
“What I’m trying to tell you is, we have inspired a lot of people to fight. And now these people are one of us. Don’t forget that.” – The Professor
“They told us what we wanted to hear, “you’d never walk alone.” Although that’s just poetry. The real action starts now.” – Tokyo
“The fact that it seems impossible is what makes it beautiful.” – Berlin or Andrés de Fonollosa (Pedro Alonso)
“You might touch the gold, but you’ll get squished like a toad and drown. It’s incredible!” – Palermo
“Everything is so difficult that nobody expects anyone to try and break in. That’s why it’ll work.” – The Professor
“De facto, it’s very simple. If you apply a bit of talent and science.” – Palermo
Berlin: The best minds in engineering, in physics, in fluid mechanics, just picture them planning a heist.
Palermo: Excellence applied in robbery
The Professor: But how the fuck will you get in?
“And it’s very easy to create chaos, little brother. I’m telling you, they’ll receive us with open arms.” – Berlin
“There’s no turning back now.” – The Professor
Quotes from Part 3 Episode 3: 48 Meters Underground of La Casa de Papel (Money Heist):
“And then the Bank of Spain will be sealed.” – The Professor
“From the outside, it’s basically a giant safe. From the inside, it’s an impenetrable fort.” – The Professor
“You’ll be safe in here. There is nothing to worry about among writer and poets. Right? Stay calm. Raise your hands like you’re in a robbery. Come on. Good. Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Palermo. And I have two pieces of news for you. One good, one bad. The bad news is that the Bank of Spain is under attack. The good news is that we’re the ones attacking it!” – Palermo
“Boo!” – Tokyo
“We’re all in, Tokyo-style.” – Nairobi
“Shit’s about to hit the fan!” – Tokyo
“From now on, you’ll be part of our wonderful family of hostages. We’ll enjoy some days of total disconnection. Take your masks and put them on, please. Put on your masks, goddamnit! Move! So that nobody feel tempted to play the hero, you’ll hand your cellphones to me colleague, Denver.” – Palermo
“Show them you little pet, Helsi.” – Nairobi
“Hey, fatty! Do you want me to train your teddy bear. I’m really good at training animals.” – Palermo
“It’s a boy! It’s a boy!” – Denver
“He’s named after a city. Just like the family. This family.” – Denver
“Tokyo, we’re doing this for Rio. But for all of us as well. Right now, they think they can’t lose. Chasing us like animals and prying us from our holes. Torturing us. Violating every human right. Anything goes. Doesn’t matter if we hide like rats, they’ll come after us again. One by one. There’s only one way out. We have to face them. Listen. In this world, everything is governed by balance. There’s what you stand to gain and what you stand to lose. And right now they think they have nothing to lose. And when you believe you’ve got nothing to lose, you’re overconfident. We will be the ones to show them just how much they have to lose.” – The Professor
“Drop your weapons, you rats! Gentlemen, let me introduce myself. I’m Palermo, and I’m the one in charge of this heist. So please turn your guns on me. I’m the most prized target.” – Palermo
“At that moment, the Professor realized that this heist is very different from the one at the Royal Mint. This one didn’t come from his head, and he didn’t have enough time to make it his own. If he had a rewind button, he would have pressed it at that instant. But he didn’t have one.” – Tokyo
“Listen to me, Palermo. My hands are steadier than a fucking Swiss watchmaker’s. I’m going to get that glass out.” – Tokyo
“Come and see this, Denver! Tokyo wants to use the same tweezers she uses to trim her thick bush. Jesus Christ!.” – Palermo
“I’m sure your peach down there is very silky.” – Palermo
“What? Am I your fucking guide dog?” – Denver
“May I have you attention, please. We have placed 460 kilograms of explosives in the windows and all the doors at every entrance and exit, so in case anyone tries to escape … boom! They would escape. But in pieces. It’s not worth the trouble.” – Nairobi
“Believable? Do you think you’re fucking Anthony Hopkins?” – Bogotá (Hovik Keuchkerian)
“I’ll make fluid come out of you!” – Bogotá
“Listen up, guys. We’re playing hard ball now. And your balls are on the line.” – Nairobi
“First of all, I want the queen of all bitches. I want Alicia Sierra. Get her on the phone now.” – Colonel Luis Tamayo (Fernando Cayo)
“It’s her.” – Lisbon
“Tell me you me to force that fucking shepherd and his flock out of the bank.” – Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri)
“Fuck me. I’m so happy, my water’s gonna break.” – Alicia
Berlin: I feel uneasy to tell you this, in front of all this beauty, but I have to confess something a bit unpleasant. I have the same illness as mother.
The Professor: How long?
Berlin: Three years. At least. You know how pessimistic the doctors are. In the end, it’ll be six. Or nine. Like lives of a stray cat.
The Professor: Andrés. Andrés. We’ll call everything off and find treatment abroad.
Berlin: First of all, there’s no cure. And second of all, I enjoy stealing much more.
The Professor: Do you really want to risk spending the time you have left behind bars?
Berlin: If a painter told you he had three years left to live, would you tell him to stop painting?
The Professor: Andrés, please.
Berlin: Look. Would you have told Michelangelo to stop sculpting David? No. Of course not. You would have said: “Forza, Michelangelo! Continue your passion” A painter? A poet? It’s the same thing. Gentlemen, continue your quest to create beauty. And this heist, Sergio, is a tribute to beauty. It’ll be our masterpiece.
“Sixteen minutes and fifteen seconds.” – Nairobi
“But before you, it’s not a door. It’s just fucking butter. And all of you, you’re going to melt it down. Burnt butter.” – Nairobi
“Why? Goddamnit! Why the hell does someone always have to be the hero? A fucking hero! There’s always someone who has to play the hero! With big fucking balls!” – Nairobi
“Don’t you think this is even better than a James Bond movie?” – Berlin
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. He’d be dead. But what job comes without risk?” – Berlin
“An interconnecting antechamber. Like a bathyscaphe. And then, sweet little brother, then come the bubbles. You used to love documentaries about the ocean. Now, here’s your chance for your childhood dream to come true. Watching the floatation level out, you turn around and see how the bubbles are rising, resplendent, perfection, sliding through the gold ingots until they crush against the roof. You’ll like you’re in a space station. But no. You’re in the vault of the Bank of Spain. There … floating. It’d be like entering a sunken galleon in the middle of the ocean. With ninety tons of 24 karat gold. What do you think?” – Berlin
“Lookin at the sun, little brother. I want to die in a beach. When the judge to say, while lifting my corpse, ‘that bastard!’ “ – Berlin
“Darling, darling, dalring. I’m back, and I brought presents!” – Nairobi
Quotes from Part 3 Episode 4: It’s Dolphin Time of La Casa de Papel (Money Heist):
“You’re fucked, kid. Now that you’re a father.” – Bogotá
“You know what you should do, Bogotá? Write a novel. How to be a father while doing drugs.” – Nairobi
“I take care of all of them, but it’s still me.” – Bogotá
“You can’t deny your DNA. Never. If you’re a thief, you’re still one. And if you risk your life, keep risking it.” – Bogotá
“Here in this heist, I’m your boss.” – Nairbo
“We’re going to melt all the golf from the fucking National Reserve down.” – Nairobi
“You’ve got me feeling to pleased.” – Nairobi
“They can hack whatever they want. They have a billion!” – Col. Tamayo
“These guys even have pictures of your dick, Ángel. They even have photos of that mole you have on your left nut.” – Col. Tamayo
“Look, Professor, you and your titillating conversations can go fuck yourselves.” – Col. Tamayo
“This is my life now. And you know what? It’s a thousand times better than before.” – Lisbon
“Since it recorded, I’m going to give you some advice, so you won’t forget it. Take your little mask, your Browning machine gun, and get ready. Because the sky is about to fall.” – Col. Tamayo
“You’re turning into an egomaniac. You don’t believe in the plan because it isn’t your. It’s your brother’s. But your brother believed in you.” – Raquel
“Everybody has principles!” – Berlin
“The whole plan depends on the decision of one man and I’m pretty sure he will decide not to do it.” – The Professor
“So Sergio, if you had to pick between your integrity and your oxygen, what would you choose?” – Palermo
“What would life be without risks? Little Brother, that’s what makes life exciting. If something goes wrong, we will always have the C-4.” – Berlin
“Well, it’s unpredictable, even crude, but so exciting. It will make the river tremble.” – Berlin
“A little big bag but that’s how life starts. It’s true that it may damage part of what’s inside the safe, but I can assure you right now that it will open for sure.” – Berlin
Quotes from Part 3 Episode 5: Boom, Boom, Ciao of La Casa de Papel (Money Heist):
“Get ready! Masks down! Now!” – Stockholm
“And here’s the beauty of the surprise. The one you’re already thinking about. A state can accept that they had to deploy the army on the streets. The state can allow you to go into the National Reserve and even steal the gold, but there’s one thing they can’t allow to happen. They cannot allow you to find out their secrets. IF we remove those red boxes out and they see them, it will take less than a second for them to realize what we have in our hands, and we will own them.” – Berlin
“Because in those 24 boxes, they store the secrets of the Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Intelligence, and how they spend the reserve fund. The foul movements of the state. Everything the state can’t allow to go public, otherwise they’d get sucked down the drain where they will be thrown on their own excrement.” – Berlin
“Boom, boom ciao. Homosexual sex. Boom, boom, ciao.” – Palermo
“We have to be practical, Helsinki. You were great, You’re a titan. That’s true, I can say that. But we’re professionals. You and I. Unlike the rest of the morons in the gang, right? Can you imagine going in there with emotional baggage? It’s absurd, right? We did the boom, boom. And now… Now, we’re blood brothers. Comprade.” – Palermo
“He fucked you and tossed you out. What a disgusting asshole!” – Nairobi
“You’re the like who could spend the next 12 hours latched to someone like a koala. Good for you.” – Nairobi
“Helsinki! You have to love yourself more. Forget this fuck boy who treats you like shit. The next time he tells you “boom, boom”, you tell him “ciao”. And he can boom boom in someone else’s asshole.” – Nairobi
“That’s the lesson: nothing is free. Everything you do has consequences. The consequences have begun to arrive. The Minister of the Interior, the Chief of the Defense Staff, all of them showed up at the tent during the four hours the governor had been unconscious.” – Tokyo
“Colonel Tamayo tried his best but Berlin and the Professor’s plan drastically changed the chess game. One move and all our enemies were in checkmate, the king and the rest of the state institutions threatened. The contents of those 24 boxes took less than an hour to reach Pakistan. Our legion of hackers opened a secure and undetectable backdoor through a clear satellite. If we published that information, they would be dead. And they knew it.” – Tokyo
“I want three tiny teeny things that I know you can handle. I want to know how much gasoline they have to feed the emergency generators. Second, bring in the underground equipment so they can tell me exactly what’s down there. Tunnels, galleries, sewers. Okay? And third, Antoñanzas. Antoñanzas? Okay. Donuts, licorice, lollipops, and that melon-flavored gum. My hormones are fired up and I need to look like a sweet, empathetic woman while dealing with that emasculated Professor.” – Alicia
“I look fat. I look fat.” – Alicia
“I don’t like anyone should have to inhale the particles of my shit.” – Berlin
“If the two of us go in together, we come out together.” – Berlin
“All actions, all of them, have consequences, and for the police, in their darkest moment, a light would appear.” – Tokyo
“Congratulation, Raquel! You won a wimp. I hope you get at least one screw a month, but you lost your family. If you hand over the Professor, I will leave them alone.” – Alicia
“She went after you because you were the weakest link.” – The Professor
“I can’t see well, but I’m developing my other senses. And my intuition tells me that you don’t respect us.” – Palermo
“Raise your hand if you have the scepter of command.” – Palermo
“In the matters of the heart, there is the lover and the beloved. The lover lives the relationship with passion, devotion, and romanticism. The beloved is limited to being idolized. I’m not saying being a lover is a bad thing. Don’t get me wrong, please. But do you know what? Lovers suffer a lot. I’m the one having the better time. In our relationship, the only thing I get out of it is control. It’s the law of love. I’m sorry. That’s the way it is.” – Palermo
“Theo only pathetic one in this entire story is you with your talk about love, and boom, boom, ciao. Wow! Could it be because you are too cowardly to admit the truth.” – Nairobi
“You love the fat guy. The fat guy loves me. And I love no one. And that’s precisely why you hate me.” – Palermo
“Oh, really? You love no one. Of course not, honey. You don’t have the balls. You need courage to love. And as for me. Helsinki, I love you. I love you so much that I would build a family with you. You see? That’s bravery. I feel it and I say it. That’s what you’re not capable of. Because how long has it been? Ten years? That you have been in love with Berlin and you never dared to open your mouth. You worshipped him like a god. You followed him around like a little dog. But you said nothing. And now what? You’re stuck with nothing. He’s gone forever. And you’re empty. The only thing you can do now is hide behind that damn speech. Boom, boom, ciao. Because you know that you have been left behind forever, my friend. Let’s get back to work.” – Nairobi
Quotes from Part 3 Episode 6: Everything Seemed Insignificant of La Casa de Papel (Money Heist):
“You’re insinuating that the love of my life is going to betray me!” – Berlin
“You’re only saying that because you’ve never been in love!” – Berlin
“They think we’re academics, not robbers.” – Berlin
“What’s the matter? You can’t time love. You have to live it.” – Berlin
“You can’t risk the entire plan for a woman. That’s the first rule. Rule number 1: a job can’t be tainted by a romantic relationship. Never. Never. It’s not hard to understand.” – The Professor
“Fun is going at a friend’s house and eating lamb or roast pig. Or gathering 50 friends in a rural house and eating a cow. Now, that’s fun! I’m sorry for the cow, but it unites people together. Meat unites, cow unites, and the artichokes divides.” – Bogotá
“Do you know what your problem is? Your life is shit. You go around speaking to your fans, they applaud, and you cum in your pants. Is that right? But when you return home, there’s no one. Your wife left you. You live in an apartment full of cardboard boxes. You eat tuna from the can, and your kids don’t speak to you. So you go on about the heist because it’s the only significant moment of your life, and you long for it because you’re surrounded by shit. So when you see a camera, you cling to it like a baby on a tit. You’re a sad excuse for a man.” – Col. Tamayo
“We’ll do what Putin would do. We’ll shoot first and ask question later.” – Alicia
“Alicia, your son won’t love you.” – Rio
“The impossible had happened. We risked everything to get this far, but none of them mattered when I saw Rio getting out of the car. He was alive. Disoriented and unable to explain a thing but he was so handsome.” – Tokyo
Quotes from Part 3 Episode 7: A Quick Vacation of La Casa de Papel (Money Heist):
“My love. We really need to socialize. I’m serious. Couples need a social life. They go out, see friends, go to dinner. They don’t just hang out all day with Kuna Indians or play beach tennis every day.” – Tokyo
“They won this battle, but not the war! So chin’s up, for fuck’s sake.” – Col. Tamayo
“You lost him the moment you said you weren’t his father.” – Stockholm
“Touch me again, and you’re a dead man. You’re disgusting, Arturo! You disgust me.” – Stockholm
“My son is called Cincinnati and you’ll never meet him in your fucking life.” – Stockholm
“This was the happiest moment of the heist. And it may even be the happiest moment in my life. But happiness is like lightning bolt. Blink, and you may miss it. After that came the fall. We you’ve reached heaven, the fall is colossal. We were all plunging into an abyss, even the Professor.” – Tokyo
“Ten million euros. And with that kind of reward, any Spaniard would sell their mother.” – Alicia
“They left me covered in piss and shit for hours. Days.” – Rio
“Every day, I’d wake up wondering if it was my last.” – Rio
“Tokyo, I can’t be with you. I’ve been thinking about it. I realized that I have always been following you like a little dog. In that cell, I discovered that I’m strong. I used to be afraid. I was terrified of living without you. In the island, after only three days, I went crazy. That’s a shitty way to live. I don’t like to be like that again. Tokyo, this is your world. I’m sorry. I really am, but I don’t want to live on your roller coaster.” – Rio
“That was the beginning of my fall. Suddenly, I felt like a ship that falls into an abyss at the edge of the world. And there, while you fall, you can only look up and watch as what you love the most becomes smaller and smaller. If I had known that was going to be our last fuck, I would not have let it end.” – Tokyo
“You’re the person that I’ve loved most. And I’m only 22. But I will feel the same way when I’m 70.” – Rio
“Rio, don’t leave me please. Don’t leave me please. Do you hear me? Don’t leave me.” – Tokyo
“I want to go back to the island with you.” – Tokyo
Quotes from Part 3 Episode 8: Astray of La Casa de Papel (Money Heist):
“Chaos interferes in out lives all the time!” – Berlin
“That’s life. Enjoy until the party is over.” – Berlin
“As I danced, I realized that there are two kinds of people. Those who break up with you and need to wish you the best. Like, “Take care, be happy.” Rio is one of those. “Then there’s people like me. We’re a fucking bitch about it.” – Tokyo
“Love is like two people in a seesaw. When one goes up, the other goes down. The balance is always fucked. Thanks to time, monotony, or because of people like me, the ones who only know one way to get rid of pain: by giving it back.” – Tokyo
“Our situation is extreme.” – The Professor
“How about we start some negotiation?” – Raquel
“There ovens are 1,500 degrees Celsius. We can’t babysit drunk girls.” – Bogotá

“I’m pathetic. I’m not surprised he broke up with me.” – Tokyo
