You go to Fireside by Kettle for its tender and finger lickin’ good (pardon me for borrowing Col. Sanders’ slogan) crisp buttermilk chicken, but you stay for the relaxed ambiance and the accommodating staff.
Fireside serves American and European dishes that are not so alien to the Filipino taste buds. There are even a couple, brisket sisig and Fireside chorizo burger, that are close to the Pinoy (cholesterol-laden) hearts.
The interiors are not intimidating with its friendly for-sharing wooden tables and natural lighting coming in from almost every direction. The servers are all young, cheerful, and energetic.
Fireside by Kettle’s main dishes are rave-worthy and the salads are spectacular, but the cakes are forgettable.

Sweet Corn Cappuccino, P129.00 (US $2.49). Sweet corn cappuccino is cream of corn and lemongrass soup in a cup. It has milk foam and pop corn salt.
Grilled Chop House Platter, P419.00 (US $8.10). It has zucchini, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, pineapple, bell pepper, apple, egg, corn, roasted chicken, feta, and honey lemon dressing. This was yummy. All the ingredients were blended well and that dressing tied everything up into a cohesive dish.
Grilled Chicken and Broccoli Alfredo, P449.00 (US $8.67). It is fettuccine with garlic cream sauce and parmesan. I liked this a lot because it has a lot of flavor and the sauce was creamy but not overly so.
Grilled Halibut, P439.00 (US $8.48). It is pan seared halibut with bacon vinaigrette and quinoa salad. I usually order salmon, and Fireside has herb crusted salmon, but this dish is one of their specialties. Can I say that as much as I enjoyed this dish because of the flavor and the bacon vinaigrette is like sin in my mouth, I was not satisfied because of the tiny serving.
Buttermilk Fried Chicken Fingers, P549.00 (US $10.61). These buttermilk fried chicken fingers were soaked for 24 hour in brine. They have Cajun Ritz breading, Cajun honey, and served with gravy and cornbread doughnuts. This is my favorite dish. I had four of the chicken fingers on our first visit and three on the next. They are crisp on the outside and tender on the inside and thankfully, not oily at all. The cornbread doughnuts are to-die-for. So so so gooooood.
Four Cheese Pizza, P499.00 (US $9.64). It has tomato sauce, mozzarella, cheddar, ricotta, parmesan, and Cajun honey. Just typing these words makes me dizzy, all these cheese give me a lactose attack, but I had to try one slice. It was not so bad (coming from a person who dislikes cheese).
Chocolate Honey Comb Mousse Cake, P369.00 (US $7.13). This is something with chocolate, naturally, I chose this. I was disappointed. It was neither chocolatey enough nor sweet enough. It looked and tasted a little chunky.
