Sunday Brunch

My second take of Spanish class C2.3 in Instituto Cervantes Manila ended a couple of weeks ago (I am retaking C2 classes because I am such a nerd!). In order to make the female bonding that was formed in that class of seven linger a while longer, and to belatedly celebrate the birthday of a dear classmate and friend, said dear classmate and friend treated the ladies in that class to a Sunday brunch in High Street Cafe – Shangri-La at the Fort.

If one has been following my blog, especially my entries on restaurants, specifically the buffet ones, one will know that I usually take at least a hundred of photos of food. However, this Sunday brunch I did not take dozens of photos in order to savor the moment with ladies who brunch. We conversed like adults and shared our views on many things – from Instagram posts to irritating politicians. We teased each other like juveniles, and Gong Yoo made a cameo in the somewhat rowdy exchange. We laughed our hearts out as we stuffed ourselves with nom noms.

Given the multiple meaty temptations that seduced me that early morning, I am proud to say that I stayed true to my promise of cutting down on meat. But I could not say no to sinful sugary sweets. I know they are bad, but a girl had to eat make her tummy happy. 🙂

Thank you, Victoria, Luisa, and Joy, for that wonderful Sunday! 🙂

This was my first batch of food. I thought I could eat a mountain of dishes, but I was so so so wrong.

My two-egg omelette with everything on it. I thought I would dislike it but I ended up polishing it all off with gusto!

Waffle with cream and fresh blueberries. The dish I liked the most that brunch. The waffle was not too thick so it was easy to chew and swallow. The cream was neither cloyingly sweet nor heavy and the fresh blueberries made the whole thing special.

Everything on this plate was bland. The slices of blond loaf and (I think) coffee loaf, the doughnut, and the ube halaya were all forgettable.

These slices of mango looked pretty but they were sour.

My plate was awesome! Sweet and juicy.
