Sulong ang Pag-unlad Movement (SAPM) Launch and Oath Taking

Sulong ang Pag-unlad Movement (SAPM) is a non-stock and non-profit organization, which is established to focus on the following advocacies:

1) small and medium enterprises

2) anti-corruption and good governance

3)programs for youth, women, persons with disability, elderly, and indigenous people

SAPM is led by Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Undersecretary Mitch Cajayon-Uy, who serves as the national chairperson of the movement. The other leaders and the members of SAPM come from different geopolitical regions of the country and include those from the government, non-governmental organizations, and private sectors.

On May 17, 2018, SAPM was formally launched at Club Filipino, in Greenhills, San Juan City. The more than 600 SAPM members urged Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go to run for a Senate seat in 2019. In the same event, national officers, regional chairmen, and provincial leaders had their mass oath taking in the presence of Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar.

In his speech, Secretary Andanar highlighted the importance of SAP Bong Go to President Rodrigo Duterte. Secretary Andanar said that, SAP Bong Go “has shortened the distance between the President and the people. …Si Secretary Bong Go … ang tulay sa Presidente. Therefore, kung siya po ang tulay sa Presidente, si Secretary Bong Go rin po ang tulay sa taong nagrerepresent ng pagbabago.” Secretary Andanar furthered that, SAP Bong Go, “ang magiging tulay sa pagbabago at itutuloy niya po ang pagbabago sa 2019 sa senado.”

Upon seeing the sea of faces in front of him, Secretary Andanar added that, “Today you aspire to have him trek towards a Senate seat. I feel this wave rising from across the landscape of the political field, kitang-kita naman natin dito, and the emotional inertia is overwhelming. As my colleague in the Cabinet, my friend, my patriot, on his behalf, thank you, para ho sa Sulong ang Pag-unlad. The SAP, a fitting acronym for the position he presently holds, and from where the way to the Senate is clearing everyday. Nagsimula po ito doon sa Ready, Set, Go! sa Maynila at nag-snowball ngayon dito. At talaga naman pong nakakapanindig balahibo, mga lider po ng iba’t ibang mga rehiyon from Region I to XIII, ang mga malalakas po sa pulitika sa iba’t ibang geopolitical geography n gating bansa ay nandito ngayon upang manawagan na tumakbo si SAP Bong Go.”

Secretaty Andanar explained that being the Special Assistant to the President is more than just being the Selfie King, a name closely associated with SAP Bong Go. He said that being the Special Assistant to the President means that SAP Bong Go is the man behind the success of the President since SAP Bong Go manages the office of President Duterte throughout his tenures as congressman, mayor, vice-mayor, and now as President.

Secretary Andanar assuaged those who are worried that President Duterte might lose his aide if the latter wins a Senate seat, Secretary Andanar said that SAP Bong Go will continue to manage the personal life of the president, which is 60% of this life, hence, President Duterte’s supporters have nothing to worry about.

Secretary Andanar mentioned SAP Bong Go’s advocacies, which are to continue President Duterte’s campaign against illegal drugs and criminality. SAP Bong Go also supports the president’s anti-poverty programs so that “maiahon ang ating mga kababayan mula sa kahirapan”.

Secretary Andanar also cleared up why SAP Bong Go has been visible recently. President Duterte cannot be at many places at once, so SAP Bong Go visit “ang mga nasunugan, ang mga namatayan, binibigyan niya ang mga kababayan nating walang sapatos” as the representative of the president.

Push to GO! Senate Tayo!
