Two days ago, a long-time friend and I were chatting on Viber. Then, she asked me if I had toaster. It was a little off topic, but I said yes I have but I rarely use it. She explained that she would send me croissant tarts and they would be perfect if they were toasted. Since I just finished doing 12,000 steps that morning, I enthusiastically replied in the affirmative and thanked her. I thought they were my reward for being active most of the week. Hehe.
The croissant tarts arrived after my short visit to the weekend market in the activity area of the condominium building where I live and just before lunch. I excitedly opened the paper bag that contained the gorgeously prepared croissant tarts. I saw all the fruits first and when I lifted them, I realized that they were hefty and almost as tall as TR!
The croissant tarts are from Sweet Bella Desserts. It is a small business that specializes in satisfying sweet cravings. Sweet Bella’s croissant tarts, as the name implies, have the buttery flakiness and goodness of croissants with the open top of a tart filled with cream. They are topped with fresh and vibrantly colored fruits! They are breakfast and snack or meal and dessert at the same time.
After lunch, I shared the Sweet Bella mango croissant tart with my brother. The mango slices were arranged to look like yellow petals in full bloom. They were sweet but not cloyingly so. The pastry is flaky and delicious. When I cut it in half, the cream filling beneath the mango revealed itself. Eating the pasty, filling, and mango seemed a little overwhelming at first but they complemented each other. The contrast in textures between the pastry and the filling and fresh fruit was nice. The tug-of-war between the wet and dry parts was titillating to the tasted buds. It was a wonderful dessert. It was a bombshell - from the way it looked so beautifully to the way it tasted.
We had Sweet Bella mixed berries croissant tart after dinner (we had to eat them before the fresh fruits turn … not so fresh anymore). It was the same as the mango croissant tart in every way except for the fruit toppings. The blueberries and strawberries looked so pretty on top of the enticing sweet course. They retained their freshness. It was a little heavy for a nightcap but it was okay.
Thank you, T.
