Pearl Hotel Kayabacho (Tokyo, Japan)

Pearl Hotel Kayabacho is an unassuming establishment providing accommodation to travellers to Tokyo. It is part of the Pearl Hotel chain in Japan. Pearl Hotel Kayabacho is located two blocks from Kayabacho Station of the Tokyo Metro Line. It is around five minutes by foot from that station, and the route is dotted with high-rise buildings, a branch of Lawson, and a branch of Family Mart on one side, and more commercial establishments on the other side.

Pearl Hotel Kayabacho offers single and twin rooms whose area range from 11 square meters to 40 square meters. There are smoking and non-smoking rooms. Each room has Wi-Fi, liquid display TV (we did not use ours), bar refrigerator (we did not use this either), hair dryer, and electric kettle. The Japanese toilet is the bomb and makes lives really better. I wanted to place it in my luggage and declare it as an import. Haha. Aside from these, each visitor is provided with a bottle of water, tea and coffee, pajama, slippers (with changeable top part, so the next room occupants can use the same slippers), disposable comb, toothbrush and toothpaste, body sponge, and razor. The bathroom has a bathtub, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Like all hotels, the towels and bedding are changed daily unless otherwise stated by the guests.

The rooms are simple and almost rudimentary but they are clean and well-maintained. The staff is polite and helpful. They must have given us at least three maps of the Tokyo subway system to explain how to go to our destination the following morning.

Pearl Hotel Kayabacho has at least two dining areas, or I think it has. On our first morning (second day in Tokyo), we mistakenly went to the upper floor and went to what I thought was the restaurant, but we were instructed to go to the ground floor when the person in-charge saw our stub.

Virg and I booked a studio twin non-smoking room (S3 in the table below) with inclusion of buffet breakfast. The buffet breakfast offers Japanese and Western food. For 1,080 yen (US $9.87), the breakfast is worth every penny. We were there for three mornings but were able to partake in the buffet only twice. One was a quick one before a tour, so we decided to take our time on our last day. And OMG! The food was ah-mah-zing! For the room and breakfast for three days, we paid 30,434.48 yen (US $278.19).

Just behind Pearl Hotel Kayabacho are dining establishments that range from standing-room only ramen eateries to fine dining places that offer everything from French to Italian cuisines. A short walk from the hotel is another ramen place with vending machine.

The surrounding area is safe and well-lit. In the morning, locals in their suits walk or run to and fro as early as 530am. The evenings are more relaxed, with only a few people walking around at 10 or 1030pm.

These photos were taken on our second night at Pearl Hotel Kayabacho. We just arrived from our Tokyo City tour and did not move a thing. Note our personal things on the table. I told Virg to stay near the door while I took photos.

One of the beds of Pearl Hotel Kayabacho Single room (S3). This one belonged to me for three days. The room was narrow. Virg and I could barely move with our suitcases, so we placed the chair near the door to give us more space (but not blocking the door in case of emergency). This bed faced the door
Virg’s bed. This one faced the window.
TV and our own Wi-Fi stuff. We rented our own Wi-Fi for the duration of our stay in Japan. It enabled us to use it in all the places we visited

The Japanese toilet with all the buttons. I tried them all, not for fun, but to utilize it to its capacity. Just once.
A closer look at the button. This is for my friend who asked if the Japanese toilet makes one feel dumb. I said no. The buttons are self-explanatory.
Body soap, shampoo, and conditioner. They were good on my body and my hair was not frizzy when I used them. I was ecstatic. Someone told me that Japanese cosmetics are good (when I told him I would pack my own shampoo and conditioner). He is correct.
