Lunch at The Lobby by The Peninsula Manila

The Lobby by The Peninsula Manila is famous for its teas and the ginormous award-winning Halo-Halo Harana. Fortunately, The Lobby is more than just these two. It boasts of an international and well-curated menu, which includes local favorites like chicken arroz caldo and hipon sa aligue (crab roe).

A few days ago, my Spanish classmates and I celebrated the birthday of one of our former classmates. Since The Peninsula Manila is a short walk away from Instituto Cervantes Manila, we agreed to meet at The Lobby for lunch. Hence, the title of this post. Hehehe.

There was good food, good wine, and good company. There was also a cake (which was scrumptious) and singing of Happy Birthday for our beloved member. However, it was an intimate affair, so I will publish only photos of my food.

The Lobby by The Peninsula’s Slow-baked Norwegian salmon, P1,390.00 (US $27.34)
Slow-baked Norwegian salmon has perfectly cooked fish as its centerpiece with olive oil potato purée, French beans, herbs, and olive vierge. The salmon almost melted in my mouth and the potato was creamy. The sauce highlighted the taste of the fish, and the fresh vegetables added crispness and texture to the dish. Every bite was heavenly and I polished every morsel off the plate. By the way, those fries are yum!
Peninsula cheesecake, P490.00 (US $9.64)
It has cream cheese, white chocolate crunch, fresh berries, and raspberry crémeux. I loved everything about it. The berries were more than just adornments. They burst with flavors, and their acidity cut through the richness of the cheesecake.
