Halo-Halo Harana by The Peninsula Manila

If you think you have seen ginormous and impossible-to-finish-in-one-sitting halo-halo, think again. The Lobby of The Peninsula Manila serves the biggest and the grandest of all halo-halo. Mainly due to its enormous size, The Lobby’s Halo-halo Harana costs P790.00 (US $15.02). Like most halo-halo, Halo-halo Harana has shaved ice dripping with milk, mixed with macapuno, langka, kaong, nata de coco, sweet beans, garbanzos, and topped with ube ice cream, vanilla ice cream, leche flan, and pinipig crunch.

I adore sweet things, so I cockily thought that I would finish Halo-halo Harana in an hour easily. Of course, I was wrong. I fell victim to the Davidisque-size of the dessert and gave up without finishing 20% of the shaved ice and some of the kaong, beans, and garbanzos. Yes, I ate everything that matters in a halo-halo. I went home a happy camper.

The Peninsula Manila’s The Lobby’s Halo-halo Harana, P790.00 (US $15.02). I loved everything about it, from the ingredients to the taste of each component and its entirety. I also loved the almost-bottomless well that served as its container. It was a Man vs. Food activity where man sadly fell short.

Sliced Seasonal Fruit Platter, P390.00 (US $7.41).
This gorgeous plate deserves another shot because why not.
Strawberry ice cream with cream and wafer, P190.00 (US $3.61). The ice cream was great but the wafer was meh.

*Exchange Rate: US $1.00 = P52.60
