Floriography is defined as the silent language of flowers where the choice and arrangement of flora signify coded messages that were not socially acceptable to be communicated in public during the Victorian age.
Floriography: The Secret Language of Flowers – A One-Woman Art Exhibit by Dr. Bernadette Escalona is far from being Victorian, yet her artworks continue to imbue the powerful messages that the colorful and bejeweled (in some instances) flowers try to communicate. Dr. Escalona uses the each petal and each stem in the more than forty images she created to show the profound connection between women and their true emotions. These messages can be seen as straightforward as they come or can be interpreted with multiple meanings, and that is up to the viewer of each image to guess.
Floriography: The Secret Language of Flowers – A One-Woman Art Exhibit by Dr. Bernadette Escalonaruns from July 20 to August 3, 2019 at the Gatewat Gallery in Cubao, Quezon City.
