#QuaranTreats: Chocolat Deep Dark Chocolate Cakes

Last week, we had Auro Chocolate Chocoholic’s Kit as our reward. This week, we had Chocolat Deep Dark Chocolate Cakes’ chocolate caramel cake and lemon bars. This #QuaranTreat is to celebrate the end of May and the beginning of June. May has been the toughest so far during this quarantine period. I expect hope that June will be a vast improvement compared to the month of flowers. The #QuaranTreat is something we all share in the house over many days as a prize after a hard day’s work or an extra long or rigorous exercise.

Chocolat Deep Dark Chocolate Cakes’ chocolate caramel cake is like a default cake order for us because we all adore chocolates. And I also love caramel. The combination is lethal and addicting. Or can be lethal and addicting. However, Chocolat’s cake did not live up to expectations. It looked and tasted like ordinary cakes whose cake or buttercream was not memorable. It felt and tasted flat.

Chocolat’s lemon bars were another story. They were lovely. They were buttery and moist with the perfect degree of tanginess from the lemon. It made my taste buds sing and the beginning of June look sunshiny and colorful.

Chocolat Chocolate Caramel, P815.00 (US $16.36). The chocolate caramel was moist and fluffy. The caramel buttercream was not sweet, which I liked, but it was grainy which I did not like. It left a sandy feel in the mouth.
Chocolat Lemon Bars. Whole Box, 16 pcs., P380.00 (US $7.63). It is also available in Half Box with 8 pieces, P215.00 (US $4.32). The lemon bars were soft and buttery with zesty lemon flavor. When it just arrived, the top was not flaky, but when it was refrigerated, it produced a flaky top and became firmer. Fortunately, it did not lose its nuanced sourness. I had three bars in three days and they retained their quality throughout the time period.
