Caramia Gelateria (Ayala Triangle Gardens, Makati City)

Caramia Gelateria in Ayala Triangle Gardens shares dining space with Amici. This makes choosing desserts relatively easier.

Caramia Gelateria serves homemade Italian gelato, gelato cakes, and pastries. Its gelato flavors include the best sellers pistachio, chocolate therapy, mango cream pie, and Ferrero. Other flavors are sans rival, espresso, strawberry supreme, Oreo cookie, black forest, and mint with chocolate, among others. Its gelato cakes include the best sellers mango passion, rouge, and brazo gelato, and chocolate symphony, mango sans rival, matcha, and banana blast. Its cakes range from the best sellers pistaccio cioccolato (my personal favorite), midnight dream, and chocolate S’mores. Other cake variants are sans rival, cherry chocolate bliss, mango magnifico (second favorite cake), caramella premia (not so good) and New York cheesecake, among others.

Aside from these, Caramia Gelateria offers gelato sundaes, gelato shakes, and hot and iced coffee.

Some may view this as preposterous, but I prefer the Caramia cakes over its gelato cakes because the former has more flavor than the latter. As much as I like all the chocolate-based gelati, I will still choose the cakes over them.

Caramia’s Mango Magnifico, P795.00 (US $15.42) whole and P110.00 (US $2.13) per slice. Refreshing mangoes in whipped cream with cashew brittles in light chiffon. I love mangoes. I like cashews. It is also true that the chiffon is super light. This is not a dense dessert and two slices can be eaten without problems (I had one slice ☺ ). This is the first runner-up in the Caramia cakes contest.

Caramia’s Cherry Chocolate Bliss, P895.00 (US $17.36) whole and P130.00 (US $2.52) per slice. It is a treat made exclusively for adults. It has coffee cream and chocolate mousse in rich chocolate chiffon mixed in with rum and succulent cherries. This is my least liked Caramia cake. I do not drink coffee. I do not drink rum. I do not like cherries. The chocolate twigs are nice though.

Caramia’s Cherry Chocolate Bliss and all its beautiful details. This is the best looking cake at Caramia.

Caramia’s Midnight Dream, P855.00 (US $16.58) whole and P125.00 (US $2.42) per slice. Midnight Dream has caramelized cashews added to a delightful bite of melt-in-your-mouth cream layered in decadent chocolate chiffon. The caramelized cashews are crackerjacks. The shaved chocolates are not so sweet, which I like. The cake itself is an elegant combination of chiffon and cream that do not overpower each other.

Caramia’s Pistaccio Cioccolato, P940.00 (US $18.23) whole, P670.00 (US $12.99) mini, and P135.00 (US $2.62) per slice. Pistaccio Cioccolato is a decadent chocolate-flavored chiffon layered with pistachio filling topped with deep dark chocolate. This is the Miss Universe among the Caramia cakes. Where do I start? Haha. It looks like an understated yet eye-catching gown. The chocolate logs are neither too sweet nor too bitter (I usually get one of them after it is sliced). The deep dark chocolate topping melts perfectly when in comes in contact with my mouth. The filling is not too shabby either. It has generous amount of pistachio bits that make a wonderful contrast against the softness and lightness of chiffon. Just yum! This is now my go-to cake with or without special occasion. ☺
