Year Five is a period unlike any other in terms of maintaining this blog. Admittedly, I lost sight of the North Star and strayed from the desirable writing path I had imposed on myself at the inception of wanderingbakya.com. Maintaining the blog was difficult due to many factors, both positive and negative circumstances; however, I am laboring to rectify the errors of my ways. It will take some time, but by the time I write Year Six, everything will be hunky-dory.
Year Five was a rollercoaster ride for me: the highs included finishing a published work, speaking in front of thousands of people, getting a prodigious job, and being the better version of myself while the lows encompass the unbearable sweltering heat in Luzon and in Visayas, broken promises, and being on the receiving end of some of the worst behaviors in humans.
During this time, I ate my feelings and consumed piles of grub from Bugis, Hukad, Mesa, Mann Hann, The Grand Kitchen, High Street Café, M Bakery, and Buffet 101, to name a few.
In order to entertain myself, I frequented one of the more peaceful places in Quezon City, the Gateway Gallery. This was my refuge on the days when things got tough. In one of my visits there, I even learned Baybayin.
TR and I flew to Iloilo a couple of times, where she met my family and some of my childhood favorite dishes.
The last half of Year Five saw my reemergence from the ashes of broken promises and try my best to fly like a phoenix and let go of the excess baggage (I also found three great exercise and dance videos on to lose the excess lbs). Now, I am in a better stage of my life, and this blog is also primed to enter Year Six with optimism and exuberance.
