For me, pasalubong from the Bicol region are the many iterations of pilinuts and abaca. This entry will focus mainly on the former since I visited Albay Pilinut Candy store in Legazpi City, the business that claims that they “started it all”. I reckon that “it” there refers to the packaging and selling pilinut products to make them more appealing as pasalubong items. Albay Pilinut Candy was established in 1936, so they might have a point in declaring that tagline.

My favorite part of the store was this, the cylindrical glass containers contain samples of the pilinut products. The saleslady indulged me and gave my companion (a local) and me a lot of samples. She also gave me 10% discount. ☺ Thank you, kind lady!
