Mann Hann – The Link Building (Makati City)

I have fond memories of Mann Hann, especially its branch in Little Baguio, San Juan City, and its crisp and mouth-watering Lechon Macau. For a while, I had the Lechon Macau, dipped in nothing but its own delicious fat, with more than my fair share of Yang Chow fried rice. It was a belly buster, but I weighed less than 100 pounds then and burned calories like Snoop Dogg burns whatever he is smoking.

When my friends and I decided to have lunch in Glorietta and changed our minds at least three times where to dine, Mann Hann in The Link Building was like a mannhann from heaven (I know I know). I did not pass up the opportunity to support the choice of this Chinese specialty restaurant. It was a good thing that our half-Chinese friend had great childhood teenage memories of some of the classic Chinese dishes served by Mann Hann.

I told my friends they could order anything as long as we buy Lechon Macau. They did and we did. And I was in that Mann Hann flashback more than a decade ago – savoring every bit of the Lechon Macau (although it was not as good as I had it in the past) without worrying about my weight.

*Here are some photos taken at Mann Hann The Link Building:

Mann Hann Maki Mi, P315.00 (US $6.10). I am not a fan of this.
Mann Hann Mapo Tofu, P295.00 (US $5.72). My friend likes this and wants more of this dish. For me, it was just okay. I am not a big tofu eater to begin with.
Mann Hann Shrimp Roll, P195.00 (US $3.78). The shrimp rolls were crisp on the outside and juicy inside. They were yum on their own, but the dip did not add any depth to the dish.
Mann Hann Fried Squid, P385.00 (US $7.46). I like squid in any form and this was not an exception. The vinegar made it taste “pulutan”, but a smacking one.
Mann Hann Yang Chow Fried Rice, P395.00 (US $7.66). It tasted well with the correct balance of seasonings. I just missed the chunks of add-ons that I usually see in Yang Chow fried rice.
Mann Hann Sate Chami, P395.00 (US $7.66). I had a taste of this and it was not something memorable.
Mann Hann Lutong Lechon Macau, P395.00 (US $7.66). The only dish that wowed me was this. It might be unfair because I was in love with this in the past. But, look at the puff of the crisp skin! Oh boy, oh boy! Thank goodness, it was not rubbery. It was good on its own or with the dip.

Mann Hann Menu: Meat and Poultry, Seafood, Noodles, Desserts and Drinks, and Iced Coffee

I can say that my last trip to Mann Hann was not as enjoyable as my previous ones. The food did not live up to expectations.
