Amici is synonymous with authentic Italian pizza, pasta, and gelato. However, few know of Amici’s humble beginnings. In 2001, Amici started out as an Italian canteen in Don Bosco Church, Makati City. It must have been blessed because its Italian coffee and gelato became so popular not only among Don Bosco employees but also foodies from all corners of Metro Manila that the canteen eventually integrated new items into its menu. These included wood-fire oven baked pizzas like Margherita, the Al Quattro Formaggi, and the Quattro Stagioni. Pasta fans were also delighted with choices of tomato-based, cream-based, and olive oil-based pasta.
Today, aside from pizzas and pastas with authentic Italian flavors, Amici also serves risottos, paninis, and appetizers like golden fried mozzarella sticks.
Amici in Ayala Triangle Gardens holds many beautiful memories for me. My Spanish class our Christmas party there in December 2016, and it is a go-to dining area when we want peace and quiet and a scoop or two of gelato after the class.

Amici – Pizza, Pasta, and Gelato
Caesar Salad, Regular P230.00 (US $4.40) and Grande P430.00 (US $8.22). It is a gourmet Caesar dressing over greens topped with bacon bits and croutons. This is a regular serving. It was not a memorable plate of greens.
Amici’s Il Supremo, P468.00 (US $8.95). Il Supremo has everything on it, which includes Italian sausage, ham, pepperoni, mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, black olives, anchovies, mozzarella, and Parmesan. This one was good. The ingredients looked endless but they complemented each other. I added chili flakes and chili sauce and it was even better. Best eaten when freshly served.
Spaghetti White Vongole e Gamberetti, Regular P388.00 (US $7.42) and Grande P745.00 (US $14.25). It has sauteed shrimps, clams, and scallops with anchovies on al dente spaghetti in olive oil. I love seafood on anything, so this one was a winner for me! The shrimp was juicy and the clam was flavored well. The spaghetti was perfectly cooked.
Linguine al Prosciutto e Tartufo, Regular P355.00 (US $ 6.79) and Grande P680.00 (US $13.00). It is a flavorful combination of prosciutto, truffle oil, porcini, and shitake mushrooms. Loved the prosciutto. Did not love the lack of truffle oil.
Amici’s Spaghetti Alla Carbonara, Regular P305.00 (US $ 5.83) and Grande P580.00 (US $11.09). This one is a regular serving. Spaghetti Alla Carbonara has spaghetti pasta tossed in creamy white sauce with Parmesan cheese and bacon bits.
Melon Shake, P150.00 (US $2.87)
